Home Government History Retirement Recreation Springfest Map Quick Facts	More than 90,000 annually attend Southaven's annual Spring Festival and Barbecue Cook-Off the last weekend in April. The Springfest is attended by more visitors and participants than any other event in Mississippi. One of its main attractions is the Mississippi State Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Called by some the second largest barbecue contest in the world, it attracts teams from all over the U.S. The winner gets automatic entry into the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest the following year. The barbecue contest begins on Thursday and continues until winners are announced Saturday at 6:30 PM. In addition to the barbecue contest, the Springfest Carnival is open Wednesday through Saturday closing each night at midnight. There is live musical entertainment Friday and Saturday evenings with a car show, business expos, arts and crafts displays, and a Happy Birthday Southaven ceremony on Saturday.
